The Chicago Sun Times reports that Al Gore continues to refuse to confront his opponents in rebuking calls by the Heartland Institute to to debate the topic of global warming. In response to the challenge Gore has given the typical cop out argument made by alarmists who, generally refuse to defend themselves in public forums. They simply declare that the debate is over and we’ve won–case closed. It is part of the movement among environmental pressure groups to shut down their opponents rather than engage them. In reality it shows how insecure they are in their arguments. Gore is starting to make a name for himself as someone who is unwilling to back up his power point slides. As noted in the Sun Times article:

The Heartland case is not the first time Gore has ducked a forum. Earlier this year he canceled an interview with Denmark’s largest newspaper when he learned it would include questions from Bjorn Lomborg, respected author of The Skeptical Environmentalist.
